The purpose of the book is educational, but hopefully it will inspire people in North America, Europe and also over the world to recognise the philosophies and traditions of these indigenous people. Respecting the inherent goodness of the tribal culture perhaps we can improve how we live our lives as humans and implement these virtues and doctrines.

The book covers the beliefs and philosophies in general and shows how diverse the cultures are in North America, but some remain as fundamental beliefs. The second chapter shows how the tribal structures and teachings that were followed then, still continue. What follows goes through tribal practices, dances, and ceremonies. Next are listed the sequence of events in the history of the tribes. There is a write up on some of the great chiefs that took care of the tribes and their discipline.

In chapters seven and eight, the current situation in North America is documented, with statistics referring to the reservations with the data currently available. Chapter nine compares the Native American culture and religions with all the world religions and spirituality, leading on to the current Native American Organisations which are listed in chapter ten. The penultimate chapter has a summary of all the Native American philosophies and many words of wisdom spoken by the chiefs of each tribe. The book concludes with lists of places and museums to visit.

About

“This project is very dear to me. I was inspired to look more deeply into the culture of the native American peoples after living in Canada some years ago. The fate and tears these indigenous folk experienced affected me enough to really investigate their history.”
